Sunday Worship Set List :: 03 Aug 2008

I've begun reading a fun blog wherein one worship leader shares his thoughts about worship and church in general. One of the neat things he does is publish his church's worship set list and encourage others to link their own set lists to his. It's kinda neat to see what songs other congregations are doing in their worship, so I thought I'd play along! So without further ado...

Central Christian Church (Lancaster, CA) :: 03 Aug 2008
Gazing (Eric Owyoung)
May the Words of My Mouth (Rob Hill / Tim Hughes)
Hosanna (Brooke Fraser / Hillsong)
Agnes Dei (house version by way of Third Day and/or Michael W. Smith)
Jesus Paid It All (arr. Kristian Stanfill)
How Can I Keep from Singing (arr. Chris Tomlin)

We had a great set, even without getting to the last song. This was the second week for "Hosanna", and it is already becoming something of a favorite in terms of congregational participation.

Hey, this is kinda fun!

Great set. How often do you do a song more than once in a row? Our general rule is that we do a new song for each month and do that song 3-4 Sundays of the month, then never again 2 weeks in a row.

You ended up not doing How Can I Keep From Singing? That's one of my favorites (from an electric guitarists standpoint, anyway).

We rarely, if ever, do a song more than once in a row... except for new songs. We did "Hosanna" for the first time two weeks ago (July 27), so we were just repeating it last Sunday. We generally do new songs two weeks in a row, then work them into the normal rotation (if they're any good :-).

And yes, "How Can I Keep From Singing" is a FANTASTIC song, musically. Any song that features walkdowns on the bass is good by me. :-D

I love that walking part- it's fun on bass and on guitar :)

That's a great set. We're getting ready to introduce "Hosanna", and I've always loved "May the Words of my Mouth", but I've never done it.
