Today, I am the world's biggest Alex Rodriguez fan.
It might be because Barry is a Giant, and I can no more cheer a Giant than I can a tapeworm. It might be because Barry is a rotten liar whose head has incomprehensibly grown a few sizes (and I don't see any other evidence of gigantism). It might be because he's a prick who supplanted one of the game's greatest ambassadors and heroes. It might be because Barry is a cheating Johnny-Come-Lately who hit 73 home runs at age 36 after only barely approaching 50 in a year before that.
Whatever the reason, I just can't wait to see what classy Barry does when Rodriguez smokes him on his way to 800 home runs. Meh, he'll probably just blame the media.
Go A-Rod!

Posted by: Topher on August 8, 2007 10:17 AMI remember when everyone was raving about Ken Griffey, JR. After he reached his 30s, he became so injury prone that his chances of getting the record were finished.
We'll see what happens with Arod. If he can stay healthy, and avoid controversy (no name mention in Jose Canseco books), he has a great shot at reaching the elusive 800 homers. If not, we'll have to wait another 10 years for Prince Fielder to do it.
