Note to everyone who ever wants to quote Romans 3:23: we "fall short", we have not "fallen short". We "have sinned" in the past and continue to "fall short" in our everyday lives. We don't just need Christ for our sins of the past. We need Christ for our sins of today and tomorrow. We don't need Him just to rearrange and redeem our past relationships and decisions. We need Him to make sense of today and have any hope for tomorrow.
We continue to "fall short"; therefore, we continue to need Him. To miss that seemingly-minor grammatical point of Romans 3:23 is to miss this core truth of our new life in Christ.
