When both of those Lowe third-strikes crossed the plate, I whooped so loud that my son was "embarrassed by me" and my daughter started crying. But you're right: those two third-strikes were picture perfect pitches.

P.S. "Yankees in" any number of games is, indeed, a valid answer. I'm not so facist as to punish the thoughtcrime of people that don't believe in the Red Sox. But if that's your answer, just prepare to be WRONG.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got a few "noise complaints" for those two strike outs.. I was proud of my ability to point out what everyone already knew in a very loud manner ("He struck him out! x 2).

As good as the Yankees are at winning (which I grudgingly concede), I have to believe their deal with Mephistopheles is about up. "I have to believe" in the same sense that, as a Red Sox fan, I have to believe that the Curse is just an ol' wives tale designed to build fear and respect into Red Sox fans. IOW, I would love for the Sox to beat the crap out of the Yankees as a scapegoat for the past ~100 years, but it's going to take something of a miracle for the Sox to actually advance.

It's no great secret to anyone who knows me that my interest in baseball is mild at best, but I watched the 9th inning of this game and was biting my nails. That was amazing.

Rachel was watching as well, Alan, and biting just as many nails. Her interest in baseball is limited to the post-season, but she watches virtually every pitch with me. And yes, an amazing amazing game, even if Williamson decided to make it "interesting" in the 9th.
