about 77 thousand words

Given the exchange value of one thousand words per picture, I figure I just posted about 77 thousand words in five categories. See them here and bore yourself to tears! (Yes, this is what I do with my Friday evenings.)

I think if you have a folder of pictures named "golf_is_fun", it should have pictures of golf, which soem people might be interested in, rather than close ups of someone's eye, which many people do NOT want to see.

What are you using to make your thumbnails? All your 4th of July thumbs (the only ones I browsed in this visit) have a kinda duotone appearance to them.

yeah, I don't know what the dealio is with the thumbnail thing. I use a little PHP script that creates the jpeg with image{createfromjpeg,sx,sy,create, copyresized, destroy}. Yet more evidence that I have no business programming, I guess...

Instead of imagecreate() and imagecopyresized(), try imagecreatetruecolor() and imagecopyresampled() (assuming you have GD >= 2.0.1). They should make your thumbs look nicer.

I dunno, I kind of like the duo-tone thumbs. The golf pictures, in particular, take on a "scary-ass mugging victim" quality.

yeah.. how exactly does one do that to themself golfing?

Well, it wasn't one doing it to oneself, it was one having it done to one by another. Let's just say that the first fairway (which I tend to play to the right) butts up against the ninth fairway. I was standing along the treeline between the two, when I heard a tree limb snap. Thinking it was a bird, I looked up. Next thing I knew I was on the ground and my ears were ringing.

My eye was tearing up so quickly I thought it was blood, esp. having seen the pictures of Brian what's his name who almost lost his eye in a hockey game a couple of years ago. Luckily, though, it actually missed my eye and nailed the outside of my eye socket (which still occasionally hurts, interestingly). I have to say that I am quite a bit more cognizant of what's happening on the course outside of my party...

The best part: my dad and brother-in-law played the rest of the nine holes and I drove myself home. (Okay, I told them to... I didn't want to ruin their outing... :-)
