This just keeps getting better and better. We got there today and they had the tile in throughout the house. The extra money we spent for the spanish-tile-like tile in the kitchen and living areas was TOTALLY worth it. They decided to throw in a patio cover in the back and an extended porch cover in the front. Everything is coming together quite nicely; see the new pictures.
I've decided that I don't like Guinness Stout, I never will, and I don't care. I like other stouts, so it's not that I'm not manly enough to handle dark beers. I like black-and-tan's (Guinness and Bass Ale, respectively). I just think Guinness, on its own, tastes like dirty socks. Remind me not to drink it again.

Have you tried other dark stouts to see if the problem lies with the genre or with Guinness in particular. Other good ones you should be able to find at your little gas station include Murphy's Stout or Caffery's Irish Ale. Bill Griffis (sp?) from the Navigators convinced me to try the latter, and I have to confess, this was one thing he may have been right about.
Posted by: alan on January 29, 2003 5:13 AMYes, as mentioned, I actually like other stouts. I haven't tried the two you mention, but I've had Mackison (sp?) triple stout and Sam Adams Cream Stout. I think it's just Guinness.
Posted by: pcg on January 29, 2003 10:49 AMI just had "the darkest beer you have" from Founders. I don't know which one it was, but it had the consistency of whole milk, and was really, really good. It may have been the 3 previous beers that I'd had (Amber, Amber, IPA) that convinced me that the fourth was good, but it was good.
I like both Guiness Stout (the stuff in the bottle) and Guiness draft (the stuff in the cans, with the widget). Both taste quite different, but I like 'em both.
Also, I don't think I like Caffrey's. I tried it, and wasn't impressed. It may have been another "Irish Ale", but I think it was that one. Maybe I'm thinking of Murphy's that I don't like...
All this to say that I've had a decent amount of beer tonight, and I think that's a good thing.
