travellin' man

I was just having a stout this evening while watching English League Soccer (GO MANCHESTER U!!!) when I thought of how much I'd like to visit England. That made me think of other places I'd like to visit. So here, without further ado or boring prose, is my list of places that I would like to visit:

  • The UK -- I'd like to see England, Scotland, and Ireland, but not so much the big cities. I'm a rural sort of guy.
  • Costa Rica -- the five months I spent in Costa Rica were not good months, as I was 17 and READY to get out of the house. I'd love to go back and actually enjoy the rain forests, volcanoes, beaches, and so on.
  • Europe -- apart from the UK, I'd like to visit "The Continent" as well. I've always wanted to take six months, get a train pass, and see everything in Europe.
  • Alaska -- having lived in both the big city and the country (sort of), I've really grown to appreciate the wilderness. That's one thing we have in America that Americans rarely appreciate: wide open spaces. (You'll forgive the Dixie Chicks reference.)
  • Australia -- I've just wanted to since a sixth grade report on the country. I suspect my desire is largely driven by perception and cool accents, but whatever.
  • Washington State -- I actually looked at moving us there at one point. It's a beautiful place.

Finally, I had a bit of a scare with the cable company for our new place. I had called them about a month ago, and they told me they were doing cable internet in January. When I called today, they said that they weren't doing cable internet. (This is a problem, as I work full-time from home managing servers. I sort of need high-speed internet. Not having high-speed internet would be like trying to get to work without a car.) After I recovered consciousness, the gal told me that they are doing high-speed microwave connections instead. So we should be golden again...

Look, I never said my blog entries would be INTERESTING.
